I only have time for a very abbreviated post, but here's the latest. Lisa Harriman called Rick after their weekly team meeting today. Although Dad continues to make progress, the rate of progress is slowing down. He can look to the left, with prompting. Still needs support when sitting on the edge of the bed. They've determined that he's ready to transfer to a different rehab, preferably before Christmas. They'd like it to be mid- to the end of next week, if possible. She's calling Orchard Cove, to see if they have a bed, and to see what their evaluation process is. She will also provide us with a list of other alternatives in the Canton area (we told her that would be Dad's preference, location-wise). She said he will probably be in this next rehab for a couple of months, and that it is likely that, although they can never predict how much progress will be made, he will always need some form of assistance, probably round-the-clock supervision and physical assistance, even after this next phase of rehab.
Sorry to make this so short and blunt, but I have to run to a meeting.
Steve
I can't tell you how helpful it is to have this blog... even if sometimes the details hit me in the gut, I feel so connected and informed.
